Tata Motors’ latest SUV-coupé, the Tata Curvv, has made a strong impact in the Indian automotive market since its launch. Initially introduced as an electric vehicle (EV) on August 7, followed by petrol and diesel versions on September 2, the Curvv has achieved a remarkable sales milestone of 8,218 units over two months. With a steady climb in sales, the model is poised to make significant inroads in the competitive midsize SUV segment, particularly with the upcoming festive season.

In August, the Tata Curvv’s sales began with 3,455 units, while September sales grew by 38% to 4,763 units, indicating rising demand. This growth rate has increased the Curvv’s share within Tata Motors’ overall passenger vehicle sales, comprising 8% in August and climbing to 11% in September. Combined, the Curvv accounted for nearly 10% of Tata’s passenger vehicle sales across these two months.

Tata Curvv: Engine Options

Built on Tata’s new ATLAS platform, the Curvv offers a choice of three engines, each tailored to different driver preferences. These include a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine delivering 120 hp and 170 Nm of torque; a 118 hp option; and the powerful 1.2-litre ‘Hyperion’ DI turbo-petrol engine producing 125 hp and 225 Nm. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is also available, providing flexibility to suit both urban and highway driving needs.

Tata Curvv: Interior

Inside, the Curvv sports a dual-tone burgundy and black theme, sharing a familiar dashboard design with Tata’s Nexon and Nexon EV models. With a host of premium features, including a powered tailgate with gesture control, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a panoramic sunroof, the Curvv is designed to appeal to drivers looking for a blend of luxury and performance. The safety suite is equally comprehensive, with six airbags, Level 2 ADAS, ESC, and a 360-degree camera, among other features.

Tata Curvv: Price

The Curvv EV, priced between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh, positions itself competitively against the MG ZS EV. Available in two battery options, the 40.5kWh battery offers a range of up to 502 km, while the 55kWh battery provides a range of up to 585 km on a full charge (MIDC standards). Under real-world conditions, Tata’s C75 testing estimates place the long-range version’s range between 400 and 425 km. With a 167 hp electric motor on the front axle, the Curvv EV accelerates from 0-100 kph in just 8.6 seconds, with a top speed of 160 kph. Fast-charging technology enables the EV to add up to 150 km of range in 15 minutes and charge from 10-80% in 40 minutes using a 70 kW charger.

Both the EV and ICE versions of the Tata Curvv have passed the Bharat NCAP crash tests with a five-star rating, adding to their reputation for safety. Tata Motors expects the Curvv’s popularity to continue rising during the festive months of October and November, leveraging its features, performance, and safety ratings to attract a broad customer base.
