Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to experience heavy downpour in the next 72 hours with rainfall ranging between 115.6 mm and 125.44 mm expected to lash across the central and southern part of the state. The state is also expecting thunderstorms and strong winds in these days as per the official weather department.

A cyclonic circulation along the south eastern Arabian sea is attributed to the extensive rainfall across southern Kerala as per the official weather department. A yellow alert has been issued for Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Thrissur and Kozhikode.

“Rainfall between 115mm and 125 mm is expected in the next three days as per the inputs we receive. Central and south districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall in the coming days. There is a cyclonic circulation formed along the south eastern Arabian sea which will be the reason for the heavy downpour in these regions”, said a senior official in the weather department.
