New Delhi: In a major action against Khalistani terror network in India, National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Baljeet Singh, a close associate of Khalistan Terrorist Force (KTF) leader Arshdeep Singh Dala, also known as Arsh Dala.

Baljeet, who had been on the run, was taken into custody at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday after arriving from UAE.

Baljeet Singh, also known as Baljeet Maur, hails from Bathinda district in Punjab. He had been wanted in connection with several terror-related cases, including one registered by the NIA, which involved the terror activities of the banned KTF.

A look out circular (LOC) was issued against him in February 2024, and a non-bailable warrant had been issued for his arrest in June 2024. His capture marks an important step in India’s efforts to combat terrorism, particularly focusing on KTF and its operations.

The NIA’s investigations revealed that Baljeet played a key role in supporting the activities of Arsh Dala and the KTF. He was involved in organizing logistics, identifying targets for extortion, recruiting new members for the group, and facilitating terror funding. He was also a central figure in the KTF’s plans to spread terror in Punjab, as outlined in the NIA case registered on February 13.

According to the NIA, the KTF has been involved in various illegal activities such as extortion, recruiting new members, carrying out targeted killings, and smuggling weapons into India. The investigation into these activities is still ongoing, and authorities continue to gather information about the group’s operations. Baljeet’s arrest is seen as a significant blow to KTF’s efforts in India.
