New Delhi: British High Commissioner to India, Lindy Cameron, expressed her delight on Wednesday at celebrating King Charles III’s birthday in Delhi. She mentioned that King Charles holds a “special place” in his heart for India.

Cameron reflected on King Charles’ previous visits to India, with the most recent being in 2019. She noted his deep admiration for Indian culture and his fondness for his last visit to Delhi and Mumbai while speaking to ANI.

“Today is a really special day for us. It’s the day that we celebrate the birthday of King Charles III, and it’s fantastic to be able to do so with so many friends here in Delhi. I’ve been here six months and I’m absolutely delighted. I can’t think of a more interesting country to be in at a more interesting time than right here in Delhi to celebrate his birthday and of course His Majesty has a really special place in his heart for India,” she said.

Recalling King Charles’ visits to India, the high commissioner mentioned that he has visited the country ten times for official purposes, with his most recent trip in 2019. She highlighted his fascination with Indian culture and noted how much he enjoyed his last visit to Delhi and Mumbai, emphasising that India holds a special place in his heart.

Cameron also expressed her own appreciation for the warm welcome she has received during her six months in India, stating how much she is enjoying her time in the country.

On Wednesday, the British High Commission in India hosted a grand celebration in the national capital to mark King Charles’ birthday. The event served as a tribute to the UK’s Head of State and underscored the strong and lasting ties between the UK and India.

The celebration brought together a diverse group of dignitaries, including representatives from the Government of India, Commonwealth nations, and leaders from various sectors such as diplomacy, arts, education, research, business, and sports, an official press release by the British High Commission stated.
