New Delhi: Purpoted CCTV footage has emerged of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal on October 20 when terrorists shot dead six migrant workers and one local doctor at a construction site in the dark of the night.
The footage shows two terrorists armed with an American-made M4 carbine and an AK-47 assault rifle entering the site of the Z-Morh tunnel construction in Gagangir on the Srinagar-Sonamarg highway at around 7.25 pm last Sunday and opening fire on workers sitting in the dining area while others headed for dinner.
The camp is located directly below an access road to the tunnel, bordered by barren mountains on one side and the Srinagar-Leh national highway on the other.

Ganderbal attack caught on CCTV
Following the attack, senior police officers, as well as officials from the National Investigation Agency and other security agencies, visited the site. Indian Express reported it was found there were no CCTV cameras installed at the location where the attackers first opened fire.
However, CCTV footage captured the area where they proceeded next, showing them entering and opening fire. They also attacked the mess before exiting and firing on additional workers. Security officials are working to verify the authenticity of the image on multiple fronts, according to sources.
The screenshot shows a date stamp of “January 27” in the top right corner, which sources suggest may be a result of a settings or technical issue. Additionally, the rifle carried by the terrorist features a blue marking on the muzzle.
Initial investigations have indicated that the attackers placed a grenade inside a vehicle parked at the camp before shooting the driver. Statements from injured persons and a security guard who managed to escape revealed that, at first, the workers believed the noise was from firecrackers. However, within two to three minutes, they realised it was a terror attack, the report said.
Terrorists armed with M4, AK-47 rifles
According to a source, the attackers were armed with an M4 carbine assault rifle and an AK-47, with 37 to 40 spent cartridges recovered from the scene. Security agencies and local police are questioning nearby villagers to gather information about the terrorists’ local handler, who may have assisted them in conducting reconnaissance before the attack. Efforts are also underway to retrieve details about both attackers from their database.
During the incident, the attackers targeted all areas illuminated by light, as power at the camp had been cut off.
Worker from UP shot at in Jammu and Kashmir
Terrorists shot at and injured a labourer from Uttar Pradesh in the Tral area of Pulwama district on Thursday morning. Shubam Kumar, a resident of Bijnore, sustained a gunshot wound to the arm when the attackers fired at him in Batagund village. He has been shifted to a hospital and is undergoing treatment.
This incident marks the third attack on non-local labourers in Kashmir within the past week.
