New York: An Indian techie employed in the US was asked if she would move to India if her salary remained unchanged. The woman’s response garnered several comments on social media. Netizens discussed the factors that might have motivated the answer she gave.

Piyush Monga, who runs the Instagram page salaryscale, shared a video from the city of New York. In the clip, he interviewed an Indian woman who worked in New York. He asked her if she could return to India if her pay remained the same. The woman unflinchingly responded “yes”. During the interview, the woman revealed that she worked for a pharmaceutical company and earned about Rs 88 lakh ($105,000). When asked if she was satisfied with her pay. The woman with five years of work experience stated that her pay was good but she wishes to earn more.

She also expressed her desire to pursue an MBA. “I would ask my company to sponsor me. I don’t know exactly what the fees would be but I would definitely go for a sponsorship and not spend the money myself,” said the woman who holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering and a master’s in supply chain analytics.

The video of the interview left netizens with many questions. Meanwhile, some thought the woman’s answer was practical. A netizen claimed, based on the purchasing power parity concept, that the Rs 88 lakh could assure a better life in India than in the US.
