New Delhi: Despite the official withdrawal of the monsoon from Gujarat, the rainy conditions persist, with over 142% of the seasonal average rainfall already recorded. A cyclonic circulation has caused a shift in the weather, leading to widespread rainfall across the state. In the last 24 hours, 69 talukas received rain, with some areas experiencing significant downpours.

Several districts reported heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms. Rajkot’s Lodhika recorded the highest rainfall at 4.8 inches, followed by Morbi with 3.9 inches, Maliya Hatina with 3.5 inches, and Manavadar with 3.3 inches. Amreli’s Kunkavav received 3 inches of rain, with 17 talukas witnessing over an inch of rainfall. The unexpected showers have raised concerns among farmers, who fear widespread damage to ready-to-harvest crops.

No relief expected for next three days

For the past several days, different regions of Gujarat have seen consistent rainfall, with no relief expected for the next three days, according to the meteorological department. The forecast indicates that the rainy weather will continue in many parts of the state. A yellow alert has been issued for parts of South Gujarat, including Surat, Tapi, Dang, Daman, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, where heavy rainfall is expected. Light to moderate showers are also predicted in Saurashtra and Kutch, with districts such as Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, and Rajkot under a yellow alert.
