New Delhi: Bengaluru is currently grappling with a weather-induced crisis following relentless rains that have turned several streets into makeshift rivers, throwing the city into disarray. The city’s infrastructure is buckling under pressure, leaving daily commuters facing significant challenges, with waterlogged roads and severe traffic congestion becoming all too common.
After heavy downpours on October 15 caused widespread chaos throughout the city, residents spent the next day draining floodwater from their homes and rescuing vehicles trapped in flooded basements. Those living in the Kendriya Vihar housing complex in Yelahanka were particularly affected, contending with flooded basements, mobility restrictions, and power outages. In response, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) dispatched two tractors to assist residents, including families and elderly individuals, in evacuating the area safely.

Amidst the chaos, residents of Yelahanka were surprised to discover a large fish swimming in the flooded basement of Kendriya Vihar, the apartment complex where the late President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam once lived. Photos circulating on social media show locals and firefighters working together to pump water out of the basement, all while proudly holding their unexpected catch. The unusual sight added a curious twist to the ongoing efforts to manage the flooding.
