‘My relationship with India is much longer’

The Polish Chargé d’affaires Michelle Sebastian calls himself a fan of India. He said his relationship with India is much longer and he had been visiting the country for the last 25 years. “And I have also served in India before. I see.. I spent five years in Delhi working as head of economic section and deputy head of mission,” Sebastian said while in conversation with Aditya Raj Kaul.

Current ties between India and Poland

Talking about PM Modi’s last visit to Poland, Sebastian said it was a very important visit.
“This was the first visit of Indian prime minister to Poland since 1979. So, first visit in 45 years. I mean, something amazing when you realize that there was no visit of Indian Prime minister to Poland for almost, for almost five decades, right? personally, I can say that when the last Indian previous Indian prime minister visited Poland, I was not born like myself,” said the Polish envoy.

‘A powerful message from PM Modi’

Reflecting on PM Modi’s message that solutions cannot be found on the battlefield, Sebastian maintained that Indian PM’s utterings was a very powerful signal. “This was a powerful signal for Ukraine, of course. Signal about increased cooperation and importance of Ukraine and the situation in Ukraine, to India. This was also a powerful signal to Europe, central Europe, especially that India might play or is interested in playing a role, in this situation. And also important signal to Russia,” he further added.

‘Putin can stop Ukraine war quickly’

Talking about the war in Ukraine and its devastating effect, the polish envoy said that the world can’t afford a global war. This is a time for peace. And we don’t need another global, global conflict. and, in fact, President Putin could stop this war very, very, very quickly. He just has to withdraw its troops from Ukraine. Yes… And so we need some other commitments,” he said.
