Mumbai Indians to retain Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya ahead of IPL auction – Report

New Delhi: Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Mumbai Indians franchise are set to retain Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya for the upcoming edition of the league. The much-awaited auction will take place in the last week of November and as per reports, pair of Rohit and Hardik will be retained by the five-time winners. All the ten franchises need to finalise the retention list by the October end.

MI, which is one of the most successful franchise in the cash-rich league after Chennai Super Kings (CSK), suffered a major dysfunction in the last season as they got eliminated in the group stage, finishing last on the IPL points table. According to a report published in Indian Express, the franchise is busy finalising the retention list for the upcoming season and is expected to retain many key players in their squad.

Jasprit, Suryakumar also to be retained

Apart from the Rohit-Hardik pair, MI are set to retain pacer Jasprit Bumrah and T20 specialist Suryakumar Yadav as the third and fourth player respectively in the squad. Reports also suggest that the Mumbai franchise will look to buy wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan for the forthcoming edition of the big event and also use their RTM card for picking Australian batter Tim David.

It will be interesting to see that who are the other two players that Mumbai decides to retain. As per the new retention policy, a franchise can retain a maximum of six players from the previous edition. Rohit, who has been associated with the side since 2011, led Mumbai to five IPL titles over the years.

However, in the last edition, he was removed as the captain and a chance was offered to Hardik who unfortunately failed to deliver for the side. It will now be interesting to see that how much amount does the Mumbai side shed for retaining the players.
