The recent light snowfall in the high-altitude areas of the state has begun to affect the lower regions. While mornings and evenings are chilly, the bright daytime sunshine still brings warmth.

Pleasant weather in the mountains

The mild cold that has set in during the mornings and evenings has made the weather in the mountains quite pleasant. In Kumaon hills, Almora has recorded a maximum temperature around 20 degrees Celsius on Sunday whereas the state capital Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 32.3 degrees Celsius in the morning and 30 degrees Celsius in the evening.

Cold is expected to increase in coming days

According to the Indian Meteorological Centre (IMD) Director Bikram Singh, Uttarakhand may witness a dry weather for the next 5 days. While the plains and hilly districts will experience increasing cold in the mornings and evenings, clear weather hasn’t resolved all issues. The IMD has also expressed hope that the weather will remain dry for the next 5 days and due to the pleasant weather in the mountainous regions, there may be a significant increase in the number of tourists.

Char Dham routes are still facing blockage

Debris from the monsoon season continues to plague the Badrinath Highway, impacting both pilgrims and locals. Despite clear weather, the debris remains, causing difficulties for travellers. Since the rains have ceased, the number of pilgrims has surged, but the road conditions, which worsened during the rainy season, have yet to improve.

Action plan for the landslide zone and ensure safe movement

The Chamoli administration has called upon NHAI officials to swiftly prepare a treatment action plan for the landslide zone and ensure safe movement by clearing the debris. With the upcoming announcement of the closing date for Badrinath Dham, the number of pilgrims is expected to rise further.
