Dehradun: After the implementation of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, there will be no requirement to visit government offices nor fill any forms for verification. According to the special committee finalizing its rules and implementation, the UCC portal will be linked to all major services including Aadhaar, PAN card, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), so that the documents of any application related to UCC can be verified through other departments.
Additionally, verification of documents like Aadhaar, PAN, birth-death certificate, property etc. of the applicant on the UCC portal will be done immediately as the UCC portal is going to be connected to all the concerned departments. The verification will be done as soon as the number of the concerned document is entered.
New law will be on secure date system
The UCC portal is almost ready and will operate through the secure data center of the National Informatics Center (NIC). In light of the recent cyber-attack on the state’s data center, the UCC will be launched from NIC’s trusted platform.
The law will be implemented as soon as the legislative approval
The law will be implemented as soon as it receives legislative approval. The rules and implementation committee has finalized the rules after holding around 140 meetings since the last week of February. These rules will be printed and sent to the Chief Minister within the next four days. Afterward, the government will send them to the legislature for approval. Once the legislature examines the technical aspects and approves it, the law will be implemented by the cabinet.
An awareness campaign will be launched to register divorce, marriage and live-in relationship
Following the implementation of the UCC, an awareness campaign will be launched to register divorce, marriage, and live-in relationships by May 2025. Additionally, the portal will provide the facility to make a free will, ensuring that succession laws are followed uniformly across all religions and helping to resolve property disputes.
