New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reached out to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to inquire about his health after Kharge fell ill during a rally in Jammu and Kashmir. Kharge experienced discomfort while delivering a speech in the Jasrota area of Kathua district. “He was speaking at a public rally in Jasrota when he started feeling unwell and dizzy. His colleagues helped him to sit down,” said Congress general secretary Gulam Ahmed Mir.

Kharge vows to keep fighting

After a brief rest, Kharge resumed his speech, during which he criticized the prime minister. “We will continue our fight to restore statehood. We won’t back down. I’m 83 years old, but I’m not going anywhere soon. I’ll remain alive until PM Modi is ousted from power. I’ll listen to you and fight for you,” the Congress president declared.

“Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge felt slightly unwell while addressing a public meeting in Jasrota, Jammu & Kashmir. He has been checked by his medical team and, apart from slightly low blood pressure, he is doing well. His resolve and the goodwill of the people keep him strong,” Kharge’s son Priyank, a minister in the Karnataka government, posted on X.
