Mangaluru: In a heroic display of quick thinking, a young schoolgirl from Karnataka’s Mangaluru saved her mother after an auto-rickshaw overturned and trapped her beneath it.
The incident took place in Kinnigoli area on the outskirts of Mangaluru, and the rescue was captured on CCTV footage, which has gone viral on social media.
How girl rescued her mother
Chetana, 35, a resident of Rajaratnapura, was walking to pick up her daughter from a tuition centre when she was struck by an auto-rickshaw while crossing the road. The impact caused the auto-rickshaw to overturn, trapping Chetana, the auto driver, and a passenger underneath the vehicle.
Seeing her mother pinned under the three-wheeler, Chetana’s teenage daughter rushed to the spot Kum Vaibhavi. With the help of bystanders, she managed to lift the auto-rickshaw and rescue her mother, the driver, and the passenger.
Girl suffers injuries
Chetana suffered serious injuries in the accident and is currently recovering in a hospital. The auto driver and the passenger sustained minor injuries and were treated as well.
