Jammu: The second phase of voting in Jammu and Kashmir is set to take place on September 25. Ahead of this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a public meeting in Mendhar, where he strongly criticised Abdullah family and Congress.

Amit Shah said that this election will mark the end of “the politics of three families.” He specifically mentioned Abdullah family, Mufti family, and the Nehru-Gandhi family, claiming that they have only supported terrorism since the 1990s. He said, “This election is going to prove to be an election that will end the politics of Abdullah family, Mufti family and Nehru-Gandhi family.”

Amit Shah praised the efforts made under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership to combat terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “Today under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, work has been done to end terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir. The youth here have been given laptops instead of stones.”

He accused the three families of hindering democracy in the region, saying, “If Modi government had not come in 2014, there would have been no panchayat, block and district elections.” Shah emphasised the impact of terrorism on the youth, mentioning that “40 thousand youth were killed” during periods of unrest. He said, “When terrorism spread here, Abdullah was enjoying a holiday. There was terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir till 2014. Today terrorism is being eradicated.”

Pakistan is afraid of PM Modi: Amit Shah

Reflecting on the change in the security situation, Shah said, “In the 90s, there used to be fierce firing in Jammu and Kashmir. Today the firing has stopped.” He said that the previous rulers were afraid of Pakistan, whereas now, “Pakistan is afraid of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They know that if they open fire, their firing will be answered with shells.”

Amit Shah said, “Today Modi ji has done the work of giving reservation to OBCs, backward classes, Gujjar Bakarwals and Paharis.” He recalled his introduction of a bill for these reservations, highlighting opposition from Farooq Abdullah’s party. Amit Shah claimed that Abdullah’s party “started provoking the Gujjar brothers.”

Amit Shah reaffirmed his commitment to the Gujjar community, saying, “When I came to Rajouri, I had promised that we will not reduce the reservation of Gujjar brothers and will also give reservation to the Paharis. We kept that promise.”
