According to an official statement, Shah will inaugurate the Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre (CFMC), which has been set up at the I4C. The centre includes representatives from major banks, financial institutions, payment aggregators, telecom providers, IT intermediaries, and law enforcement agencies from various states and Union Territories.

  • All stakeholders will collaborate for swift action and coordinated efforts to combat online financial crimes. The CFMC will exemplify “cooperative federalism” in law enforcement.
  • The Samanvaya Platform (Joint Cybercrime Investigation Facilitation System), a web-based module, will serve as a one-stop portal for cybercrime data collection, sharing, crime mapping, analytics, and facilitating cooperation among law enforcement agencies across the country.
  • Shah will launch a “cyber commandos” initiative, establishing a specialized unit of trained cyber commandos in states, Union Territories, and central police organizations (CPOs) to address cyber security threats.
  • These trained cyber commandos will support states, Union Territories, and central agencies in safeguarding the digital realm.
  • Additionally, a “suspect registry” has been developed in partnership with banks and financial intermediaries to enhance fraud risk management across the financial sector.

What is I4C

I4C was established on October 5, 2018, under the central sector scheme within the Cyber and Information Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Its primary objective is to establish a national-level coordination centre for addressing all issues related to cybercrime across the country.

The I4C aims to enhance the capabilities of law enforcement agencies and improve coordination among various stakeholders dealing with cybercrime.
