J&K polls: From Pandits rehab to tackling terrorism | BJP manifesto highlights

New Delhi: BJP leader Amit Shah on Friday launched party’s poll manifesto for the upcoming elections in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The saffron party, which is contesting the poll on its own, has promised a slew of promises to return to power in the Union territory. The UT will go to polls in three phases from September 18 to October 1. The votes will be counted on October 8.

Here are the major highlights from BJP’s Sankalp Patra:

  • Priority will be given to empowerment of the deprived class including ensuring reservation in promotion for SC and ST employees
  • Five lakh jobs will be created under Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Rozgar Yojana.
  • A white paper on terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and along with strong commitment to eradicate it
  • The party announces Maa Samman Yojna to provide Rs 18,000 yearly to women head of every family. Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, two free LPG will also be provided to every family.
  • Travel allowance of Rs 3,000 will be provided to college students under Pragati Shiksha Yojana.
  • Pension will be increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000
  • PM Kisan Samman Nidhi payment to see marginal increase and now Rs 10,000 will be given to farmers.
  • A quota of 20% has been announced for Agniveers in Jammu and Kashmir police along with other government jobs.
  • Subsidies will be provided for solar panel installations under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
  • For the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, Tika Lal Taploo Visthapit Samaj Punarvas Yojana will be launched
  • Coverage under Ayushman Bharat Sehat Scheme will be increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh.
  • 10,000km of roads will be constructed in rural areas of the UT.
  • Under Rishi Kashyapa Pilgrimage Rejuvenation Drive, over 100 temples will be restored.
  • The party has also promised support for MSMEs by resolving issues plaguing it.
  • BJP also plans to check illegal settlements in J&K mainly of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis.
